Research Opportunity ($$$!)

Are you a graduate student with research in the arts and humanities, digital humanities, new media, library and information science or computer science? Want to win $500?

ASIS&T SIG-AH and SIG-VIS are seeking previously unpublished research for a Master’s and a PhD Student Research Award. Finalists will be invited to introduce their research presentation at the 2017 Virtual Symposium on Information and Technology in the Arts and Humanities (April 18–19, 2017), and winners will receive a Student Research Award and cash prize up to $500.

The theme, Open Science in the Humanities, invites participation from a variety of theoretical and empirical perspectives on the topic. Suggested topics include, but are not limited to, past research, case studies, and current projects that use humanities-related open data or open content, or that discuss topics in the following areas:
  • Open information retrieval
  • Collaborative research methods
  • Digital publishing
  • Open access
  • Data curation and sharing
  • Linked data/linked open data
  • Social media or Web 2.0
  • Open Source technology
  • Research assessment

The deadline for submissions is April 9, 2017.
